About Lurdes Hope
I am a warm and empathic professional offering counselling and psychotherapy to adults of all ages and cultural backgrounds in a non judgemental and confidential setting to enable you to express yourself freely. I have extensive experience counselling for both the NHS and at a top London University.
I also offer short term, goal oriented counselling.
The approach I use in my work is Integrative, which fuses many therapeutic approaches together. In my work I strive to bring together the behavioural, cognitive, physiological and affective systems within you. I will tailor my approach according to your circumstances and needs.
My work combines Humanistic and Psychodynamic theories with a particular incidence on Cognitive, Transpersonal and Transactional Analysis therapies.
I believe in being fully present for my clients and being empathic, genuine and non-judgemental.
Part of my experience has been working creatively with my clients. When talking is difficult this is a good medium to express your feelings and your inner turmoil.
It’s good to talk.
In my sessions you will be able to explore your feelings and issues in depth. I work with you to support you in this and will enable you to make your own choices in an assertive and empowered way.
Counselling is normally shorter term work, up to 6 or 8 sessions. We establish your goals and work towards them.
Psychotherapy is long term and during our work we will explore your inner you, any established patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings and how these may be impacting on you now. We also explore past relationships and any past traumas. The outcome will be a development of your awareness to enable you to make positive changes in your life. As Carl Rogers said:
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
